Museum of local History
Experience the rich history of Bad Dürrheim in the museum of local history and culture, established in 1986 in a building of the former salt works.
In the Museum of local history, the development of Bad Dürrheim from the first mention in the year 889 – over the so called „Johanniterorden “(from 1299 onwards) up to the discovery of a large salt deposit is represented. Experience the history of the salt works of Bad Dürrheim, which shaped the former village for more than 150 years. The successful development of the Spa industry can be experienced in this exhibition. The “Heimatstube” houses pictures, documents and graphics of this development. The rural character of the former village comes into its own in the traditional costumes, agricultural implements and furniture from the “Hänslehof”, an old Bailiwick of the “Johanniterorden”. Further exhibits are an old wooden bathing tub, small utensils of the former bath houses and a small kitchen with everything which a housewife used in former times.
